The coastline of Algarve provides the fisherman a variety of fish to catch out of the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Deep-sea excursions are run from different locations along the Algarve coast. The currents and times of the year determine the possibility of a fishermen catching Swordfish, Tuna and Shark. Near Faro, a large blue marlin in excess of 700 kilos was caught in 1983 and apparently still the World record for this type of fish.
